Pesticide residues in European sediments: Concerning for aquatic environments?
Our latest summary factsheet is now available!
This factsheet outlines key findings on pesticide residues in sediments collected from 38 water bodies across eight European countries. It highlights that 99 different pesticide residues were detected, including glyphosate, AMPA, and DDTs, with 27 residues no longer approved for use. These findings raise concerns about the persistent impact of both current and historical pesticides on aquatic ecosystems, particularly affecting species like fish and amphibians. The study underscores the need for sustainable agricultural practices to mitigate environmental pollution. Click here to read the factsheet.
